7th district office to conduct tour of marsh that will serve as model for LB park

On Saturday, June 16, 7th District Councilmember James Johnson will host a tour of Madrona Marsh, a wetland located within an urban landscape in Torrance. The tour will serve as the first public meeting for the Master Plan for California Gardens, a new 47-acre park in the center of Long Beach with the highest accessible peak in the city, varied topography, biodiversity and wetlands. Madrona Marsh is very similar in size and past use to California Gardens.
Attendees will gain insight into the possibilities for California Gardens and will be able to share their own ideas and park-name suggestions.
Bus transportation to Madrona Marsh has been secured, however, because of limited space, RSVPs are required. The meeting location will be at the new EDCO facility, located across from California Gardens at 2755 California Ave. The bus will leave at 10am. Participants can also meet at Madrona Marsh at 10:30am.
To RSVP contact the 7th district office at district7@longbeach.gov or (562) 570-7777.
