The office of Vice Mayor Rex Richardson will launch a new monthly “pop-up” gathering, #PopUPTown Social, in partnership with the Uptown Business Association and Roxanne’s Events. #PopUPTown Social celebrates local artists, music, residents and food.
“Based on the success of other signature programming like the Uptown Jazz Festival, #ActivateUptown and Village Fest, we are proud to bring these #PopUPTown monthly micro-socials to north Long Beach,” Richardson said. “By using place-making as a means to activate space along the north Atlantic Avenue business corridor, we are setting the stage for new developments and improvements coming to our community very soon.”
#PopUPTown will launch on Thursday, May 25 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm in the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library Learning Garden and will continue the 4th Thursday of each month. The events will feature live local entertainment, Roxanne’s beer and wine garden, fresh produce and a kids’ activity. Residents are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
For May’s kick-off, there will be a jam session with local artists, including saxophone player Brandon Baker, guitarist John Conti, drummer Brian Gazo, keyboardist Di Easley and more to be announced.
Additionally, there will be an array of vendors, including Robert Earls BBQ Truck, vegetarian options from Roxanne’s and a fresh fruit and veggie produce stand.
To RSVP or for more information, visit the #PopUPTown Facebook event page or call the District 9 Office at (562) 570-6137.
