Families can learn about social and emotional skills at Early Learning Fairs to help prepare their children for school.
The Long Beach Public Library will host Early Learning Fairs, four sessions for parents or caregivers and their children to prepare to enter preschool in January and February.
Early Learning Fairs will take place at a different library each session, are free to attend, do not require an RSVP and will cover topics such as early learning mathematics as well as social and emotional learning. Each fair will feature an educational entertainment performance.
“The Early Learning Fairs are a cornerstone of our community’s commitment to educational readiness. said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement. “Join us as we culminate these fairs with captivating our dedication to preparing the youngest members of our community for future success.”
Early Learning Fair sessions are scheduled as follows:
- Saturday, Jan. 20 at Burnett Neighborhood Library (560 E. Hill St.) from 1 to 3 p.m.
- Saturday, Jan. 27 at Bret Harte Neighborhood Library (1595 W. Willow St.) from 2 to 4 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 10 at Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library (5870 Atlantic Ave.) from 2 to 4 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 24 at Mark Twain Neighborhood Library (1401 E. Anaheim St.) from 2 to 4 p.m.
Families who visit every resource table at an Early Learning Fair and attend one of the workshops will receive a “Ready for Kindergarten” backpack filled with learning supplies and tools, while supplies last. Children should be present to receive their backpack.
