FOSHCA (Friends of Signal Hill Cultural Arts) hosted “Show and Sell,” their first Art/Artisan show, at the Signal Hill Community Center Saturday, Oct. 13.
Artists and more than 300 visitors proclaimed the event a huge success. Participants and shoppers alike called it a “class act” and hoped it would be repeated next year. FOSHCA representatives said they had long felt “the Hill” was the perfect venue to host such an event and attributed its success to the many residents of our area who support the arts.
“We hope this will become an annual event and the success of this first show seems to indicate that it will,” said FOSHCA member Sue Caves.
For those persons who voted for their favorite artist in the “People’s Choice” contest, they can find out the winner Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Signal Hill City Council meeting when the grand announcement will be made.
FOSHCA has long been a fixture in Signal Hill, sponsoring the Summer Concerts at the Park, the Artist of the Quarter displays in the library and children’s workshops at various parks in the city. The group considers itself a small organization made up of dedicated citizens with big dreams for their city. Members are urgently needed to realize those dreams. Anyone interested in becoming a part of this organization is encouraged to call FOSHCA at (562) 989-7383.
