Heart and Kidney Screening: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Care Access will be offering free Lp(a) screenings at the Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport (2640 N. Lakewood Blvd.). This test provides insight into heart attack risk and is not included in standard cholesterol tests. No insurance is required. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to avoid long wait times. Free.
DIY Craft Club: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Residents ages 8 and older can learn to make no sew rope baskets at the Signal Hill Public Library (1800 E. Hill St.). Free.
Full Moon Eclipse Renewal: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Let the full moon create a space of clarity and reflection with this wellness session led by Sabrina Rollo at Compound (1395 Coronado Ave.). This session will use gentle movement, breathwork and healing sounds. Attendees should dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat and blanket. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite for $25.
Spring Exhibitions Opening: 7 p.m. The Long Beach Museum of Art (2300 E. Ocean Blvd.) will celebrate its 75th anniversary with the opening of exhibitions displaying work from its permanent collection. Attendees can enjoy an evening of art, conversation and community. Uptown Housing Expo: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Residents can gain valuable insights into homeownership, home preservation and wealth building at this expo at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.). Main highlights of the program will be estate planning, a walkthrough of the First-Time Homebuyer Grant, ADU benefits and home repair grants. Free.
Kayaking: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nature explorers can kayak through the Steamshovel Slough area of Los Cerritos Wetlands while learning about its environmental significance. Attendees should meet at the playground near Mother’s Beach (5733 Appian Way) at 8 a.m. and must be 12 years or older. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.
Queens in the Making: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Queen Mary (1126 Queens Hwy) will host a women’s empowerment summit in honor of Women’s History Month. The event will feature keynote speaker LaTanya Sheffield, along with panel discussions, interactive workshops and networking opportunities. Tickets cost $26.50 on the Queen Mary’s website.
Low-Cost Pet Vaccines: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pets can receive various vaccines and other services such as microchipping, flea/tick treatment, tapeworm treatment, nail trimming and more at a reduced cost at the Signal Hill Civic Center parking lot, across from City Hall (2175 Cherry Ave.). Prices vary.
Baddies Skate: 10 a.m. Devotion Fitness will be hosting free beginner-friendly roller skating lessons at Junipero Beach (1 Junipero Ave.). Participants should bring their own roller skates, pads and water. A group stretch and coffee meetup will take place at 9:30 a.m., with the session starting at 10 a.m. A picnic will follow, and attendees are encouraged to bring a snack to share. Soccer Fun Day: 10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Soccer Shots Long Beach will host a free soccer event at Sports Basement (2100 N Bellflower Blvd.) for children ages 2 to 10. Kidical Mass Bike Ride: 11 a.m. to noon. District 3 Town Hall: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The public is invited to the first District 3 Town Hall of the year at the Recreation Park Community Center (4900 E Seventh St.). District 3 residents will have the chance to connect with city staff, hear updates from local agencies and discuss key issues with their councilmember, Long Beach Transit, the police, Public Works and Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Communications. Blackout Poetry for Teens: 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Teens and tweens are invited to the Mark Twain Neighborhood Library (1401 E. Anaheim St.) to learn about and create blackout poetry. No registration is required, and all materials will be provided. Free.
Tie-Dye Workshop: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Adults and teens are invited to the Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W. Broadway) for a hands-on workshop where participants can create their own tie-dye tote bag. All materials will be provided. Free.
