Long Beach will host 11 Olympic events in the summer of 2028, the Los Angeles organizing committee announced Tuesday morning.
The 2028 Los Angeles Olympicswill span as far north as the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area and as south as Trestles Beach in San Clemente, with more events scattered in cities like Pomona and El Monte. Long Beach is hosting the most events outside of Los Angeles, at venues like Alamitos Beach, the Convention Center, Marine Stadium and temporary sites.
The 2028 Olympic Games will take place July 14 through July 30, 2028, and the 2028 Paralympic Games will take place Aug. 15 through Aug. 27, 2028.
“Long Beach is now confirmed to serve as a premier waterfront venue for the 2028 Games. We are thrilled and honored to have Beach Volleyball join the list of acclaimed sporting events to be held on our iconic coastline, from Sailing to Water Polo, and we are excited to open our doors to the world and showcase the culture, diversity and spirit of our community,” said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement. “This presents a generational economic opportunity for our city, and we look forward to working with LA28 as we continue to prepare for this monumental experience.”

The full list of 2028 Olympic events and venues in Long Beach include:
- Beach Volleyball – Alamitos Beach
- Coastal Rowing – Long Beach waterfront
- Sport Climbing – Convention Center Lot, on a temporary climbing wall
- Target Shooting – Convention Center Lot, within a temporary indoor range
- Handball – Long Beach Arena
- Canoe-Sprint – Marine Stadium
- Rowing Competitions – Marine Stadium
- Sailing – Belmont Shore
- Marathon Swimming – Long Beach waterfront
- Artistic Swimming – Temporary aquatics center at the Convention Center Lot
- Water Polo – Temporary aquatics center at the Convention Center Lot
Long Beach will make history as the first city to host the new Coastal Rowing event, and will be the first time Target Shooting is within walking distance of the other Olympic events. The triathlon competitions were previously planned to be held in Long Beach, but have been relocated to Venice Beach.

Long Beach has allocated over $750 million in Measure A funds and other sources towards an infrastructure investment plan, with the goal to improve right of way, parks, mobility, public facilities, cultural centers and open green space by the summer of 2028.
