Many avid watchers of early 2000s MTV will likely have a nostalgic remembrance for “Nitro Circus,” a daring group of action sports athletes immortalized by multiple shows, a feature film and several live tours.
This collective of athletes were led by stunt performer Travis Pastrana, who’s been a daredevil force in sports in motocross, NASCAR and powerboat driving, just to name a few. Alongside another MTV staple, “Jackass,” “Nitro Circus” formed a one-two punch of shows where outlandish stunt performers pursued absurd feats and risked extreme bodily harm for our collective entertainment.
Originally co-founded by Pastrana in 2003, the Nitro Circus group has now been putting together death-defying stunt showcases for over 20 years. Nitro Circus’ newest venture, the “Off The Rails” World Tour,” will make its way to the Long Beach Arena on December 7.
“I’m so excited to be coming back to North America,” said Nitro Circus performer Ryan ‘R Willy’ Williams in a public statement. “This all new show promises to be an exhilarating experience for everyone, whether you are a fan of action sports or simply seeking entertainment for the family. It really is a thrill ride that will leave you at the edge of your seat! The energy and camaraderie of the athletes is contagious! I can’t wait to connect with our fans, making memories and inspiring the next generation!”
During this live event, athletes will compete in categories such as freestyle motocross (FMX), bicycle motocross (BMX), skate, scooter and more while putting on an energetic skill-filled performance for fans of all ages. The thrilling atmosphere, full of new competitions and adrenaline-pumping mayhem will also feature a live DJ and interactive fan experiences.
“Off The Rails” will feature the following athletes from the Nitro Circus roster:
- Ryan “R Willy” Williams – Australian BMX and scooter athlete who has amassed over 900 million views on YouTube for his innovative stunts.
- Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham – a wheelchair motocross (WCMX) pioneer who landed the world’s first wheelchair backflip and continues to defy limits in his sport.
- Adam Jones – An FMX legend with 8 X Games medals and more than two decades of experience in action sports.
- Andy Buckworth – The first athlete to land a double frontflip no-hander and a constant creator of new BMX tricks.
There will be a special Nitro Circus presale starting Wednesday, April 23 at 10 a.m., followed by a venue presale on Thursday, April 24 starting at 10 a.m. Event tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25.
