This weekend Long Beach will celebrate life, art, and cocktail culture at the Puka Bar’s first annual art show, entitled Cocktail Hour. The show opens tonight at 6 p.m. with $2 martinis and works from local artists and will continue through Sunday, Dec. 2.
With newcomers and seasoned veterans, a few of the artists displaying their craft include The PIZZ, Damian Fulton, Doug Dorr, Candy, BigToe, Brian Viveros and Sara Ray.
Curating the inaugural event are Candy of Monster Flower Studios, and LindaLu of Hairy Scary Hair Clips. Both ladies are Long Beach locals who want Cocktail Hour to showcase local artwork, introduce people to local Wrigley businesses, and help get the word out about all that Long Beach has to offer.
According to LindaLu, “Long Beach is the best kept secret of Southern California. It’s a city that is truly cosmopolitan and eclectic. The gallery is an aesthetic celebration of its history, people, and of course, libations!”
Guests will have the opportunity to win prizes from businesses such as It’s A Grind, Sevilla, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Baby RAB, Spitfire, Hairy Scary Hair Clips, Dirty Beads, Gasoline Gallery (El Segundo), Battle Born Public Relations and more. Proceeds from Cocktail Hour will go to Long Beach Historical Society and Long Beach Playhouse.
The Cocktail Hour showcase is from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 through Saturday, Dec. 1. The Puka Bar is located at 710 West Willow Street in Long Beach.
