As the three-day Labor Day weekend rolls in, the City of Long Beach has announced its holiday schedule, with some facilities and services remaining open and others taking the day off.
Open on Monday, Sept. 1:
- All City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center)
- El Dorado Regional Park
- Fire Stations and Lifeguard Stations
- Long Beach Airport
- Main Police Station Front Desk
- Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)
- Gas Services Dispatch (562-570-2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls
- Water/Sewer Dispatch (562-570-2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls
Closed on Monday, Sept. 1:

- Building and Safety services, including the Permit Center, inspections and plan reviews
- City-operated pools
- City Prosecutor’s Office
- Code Enforcement services
- Economic Development Department’s Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Adult and Youth Career Services Centers

- Fire Headquarters, Support Services, Fire Prevention & Operations, including Marine Safety Administration

City Hall
City Hall offices and public services will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, including the following commercial services typically available at City Hall: the Permit Center (located on 2nd floor), Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations. Residents can continue using the online resources on the City website, such as building permit services and bill payment options.
Street Sweeping
There will be no scheduled street sweeping or violation enforcement on Monday, Sept. 1. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Parking Enforcement
Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Monday, Sept. 1, unless the meter states “Exempt on Holidays.” The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.
Refuse/Recycling
Refuse and recycling will be collected as scheduled on Monday, Sept. 1.
Towing and Lien Sales
The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St.) will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1. The facility’s normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Sunday and holidays. Vehicles and property are available for release outside of the typical hours for an additional fee.
Libraries
All Long Beach Public Library branches and services, including the main phone line (562-570-7500), will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 1. Libraries are not open Sundays per their normal schedule. Patrons will continue to have 24/7 access to the Library’s digital resources, including the Library catalog, downloads, and databases.
