Looking for ways to connect with the Long Beach community this week? Whether you want to volunteer, celebrate culture or simply spend time with your neighbors, here’s what’s happening around town.

Those looking to give a helping hand to their neighbors can help restore an urban farm that was recently vandalized Friday or Saturday morning, or help clear litter from the Zaferia Heights neighborhood Saturday.

Connect with neighbors over shared values at a community walk with the Black Neighborhood Tenant Council Saturday through downtown Long Beach, or participate in a walking, dancing, eating and drinking celebration and fundraiser for ÓRALE at Sala Coffee and Wine on Sunday.

Local creatives and art lovers can make new creations during a communal craft night at KUBO Friday night, take in a live theatrical performance from Long Beach’s independent theater throughout the weekend, learn about surrealist screenwriting at PLACE Saturday afternoon, practice painting at Willow Springs Park Sunday afternoon, try their hand at printmaking Monday evening and more. Kids can enjoy a mix of story times and art workshops.

One of the best parts of the Mid-City Studio Tour is seeing the various tools used by Long Beach’s local artists, such as the used paint brushes and paint-smattered containers in Judy Chan’s gallery. (Samantha Diaz | Signal Tribune)
