The spooky spirit crept through Signal Hill Park on Saturday at the city’s annual Halloween Carnival, bringing joy and treats to children and families alike.
More than 300 Signal Hill residents came dressed up as their favorite characters, from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and autobots from “Transformers” to dinosaurs and singers from “KPop Demon Hunters.”. Creativity was on full display at the trunk-or-treating, where kids received treats from decorated vehicles like a pumpkin-adorned vintage Ford and a Jurassic dinosaur peeping out from a trunk.
Activities included Halloween-themed carnival games, including axe throwing and a spider web catch. The carnival also offered face painting, a photo booth, food for purchase and an inflatable obstacle course.
City Councilmember Charlie Honeycutt gave out treats at the trunk-or-treating, taking part in the Signal Hill Halloween spirit he’s enjoyed for decades.
“We love the Halloween carnival,” Honeycutt said. “We’ve been volunteering for over 30 years and love to see just how fun it is for the kids to enjoy our event every year.”
