Nearly 30 downtown businesses will again get into the holiday spirit by decorating for the season as part of the Downtown Long Beach Associates’ (DLBA) annual Festival of Lights promotion taking place now through Dec. 24.
Festival of Lights is designed to create a festive atmosphere for downtown diners, shoppers, residents, visitors and employees, and also increase foot traffic to local businesses. Downtown consumers are encouraged to visit the participating businesses where they can vote for their favorite holiday display at each of the establishments. Those who vote will be entered to win a $100 Downtown Prize Package, and the winner will be announced in the January edition of the DLBA’s monthly e-newsletter, The Downtown Scene. Download a free map of all participating venues and sign up to receive the e-newsletter at downtownlongbeach.org.
In addition to the Festival of Lights¸ the DLBA has added to the holiday décor by placing holiday swags, wreaths, lights and garlands throughout downtown Long Beach, located on Pine Avenue, from First Street to Tenth Street, and on Broadway from Pine Avenue to Alamitos Avenue, and they will remain in place through the New Year.
“The holidays bring residents, visitors, and local employees into the urban core for everything from shopping, to dining, to simply enjoying the festive season in the various neighborhoods of our downtown,” said DLBA President and CEO Kraig Kojian. “We’re excited to add to the merriment and celebrations by incorporating the Festival of Lights promotion and decorating downtown for this special time of year.”
