The holiday season is in full swing with a variety of festive events taking place across Long Beach in the coming week. Families can enjoy a ballet-inspired storytime or craft eco-friendly wreaths at Dana Library, explore 100 years of holiday traditions at Rancho Los Cerritos’ Holiday Open House on Friday, or cheer on the city’s longest-running parade along Daisy Lane on Saturday.
Shoppers have more opportunities to find unique gifts at a wide range of markets Saturday such as Farm Lot 59’s yard sale, a disabled makers market and a Fourth Street holiday market. More independent shopping markets continue Sunday with an abolitionist free book fair, The Beach Flea Market, a yule night market and a holigay market and benefit show.
Local youth have opportunities to shape their own futures with two upcoming public events, where they can help decide how to use public funds Tuesday evening and hear from professionals about green career paths Thursday evening. Additional ways to help include flower planting at Willow Springs Park Friday and a toy drive/comedy show Monday.

Friday 12/12
Nutcracker Storytime: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Families with babies, toddlers and children up to 5 years old are invited to a special ballet-themed storytime at the Dana Neighborhood Library (3680 Atlantic Ave.). Led by the Tutu School, children can learn about “The Nutcracker” and practice simple dance movements inspired by the classic ballet. Free.
Flower Planting Extravaganza: 2 p.m. Join Willow Springs Park (2745 Orange Ave.) to plant six species of plants at the native habitat and learn about the park’s ecosystem. Tools will be provided, but visitors should come prepared by bringing a water bottle and wearing closed-toed shoes as well as sunscreen or a hat. Free.
Holiday Open House: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rancho Los Cerritos invites visitors to celebrate 100 years of holiday traditions with candlelight tours, costumed docents, pop-up exhibits, music, arts and crafts and refreshments at Rancho Los Cerritos (4600 N. Virginia Road). Register for this event on the rancho’s website. Entry is free, but a donation of $5 is suggested.
LBC Eats: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy local food trucks, pop-up vendors, craft drinks and live music at this foodie-centric celebration in downtown Long Beach (300 The Promenade N). Free admission.
Vinyl Night: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Enjoy an evening of disco, funk and house records, hosted by local DJ Noah Jaems at Trademark Brewing (233 E. Anaheim St.). Free admission.

Saturday 12/13
Farm Lot 59 Yard Sale: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This two-day annual yard sale by Farm Lot 59 will feature gardening tools, baskets, plant pots, gifts and decor at the farm (2714 California Ave.). Entry is free.
Disabled Makers Market: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This market spotlights disabled creators in the community, but is open to everyone, with makers selling food, plants, hand-crafted items, stickers and more with an emphasis on the 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPoC community at Long Beach Forward (2217 E. Sixth St.). There will also be free workshops, neurodivergent-friendly music and a donation drive for pantry food and hygiene items. A high filtration mask is required and will be provided at the door for those who don’t have one. Free.
Winter Wreaths: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adults, teens and tweens are invited to craft eco-friendly holiday wreaths using all-natural, compostable materials at Dana Neighborhood Library (3680 Atlantic Ave.). Attendees are welcome to bring extra decorative materials. All supplies will be provided. Free.
4th Street Holiday Market: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fourth Street will host its annual Holiday Market with local artist pop-ups, live entertainment, late-night shopping and more. The event spans Fourth Street from Temple to Cherry Avenues. A free shuttle provided by DRIVER will transport people up and down Fourth Street. Free.
Silent Reading & Book Swap: 1:30 p.m. Long Beach Book Worm’s last silent reading of the year will be held at Twelfth House (1950 W. Willow St.), with unlimited tea and a white elephant style book swap. Reservations can be made on the Twelfth House website.
Daisy Lane Christmas Parade: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The 71st annual Daisy Lane Parade returns to West Long Beach with holiday floats and performances. Starting at West Burnett Street, the parade route travels along Daisy Avenue, loops at Pacific Coast Highway and ends near West Hill Street. Free.

Sunday 12/14
Abolitionist Book Fair: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Care Culture Collaborative is hosting this absolutely free book fair with children’s, teen’s, fiction and non-fiction books as well as stationary and a craft station at Wood Coffee Co. (2728 10th St.).
Flea Market Pajama Party: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Beach Flea Market at Long Beach City College (1305 E. Pacific Coast Highway) is a pajama-themed party where residents can shop for vintage clothing, jewelry, rugs, furniture, toys, pins, art and more from over 200 vendors. The person in the best pajamas will win $100 beach bucks. Free.
Winter Wonderland: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Urban Reset Foundation and Councilmember Cindy Allen is hosting the third annual Winter Wonderland at Orizaba Park (1435 Orizaba Ave.). There will be snow, sledding, toy giveaways, an art station and Santa.
Artist Talk: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Join artist Alejandra Phelts and Chief Curator Gabriela Urtiaga at the Museum of Latin American Art (628 Alamitos Ave.) for a discussion on the “Crossborder Women” exhibition catalog, followed by a Q&A and exclusive catalog signing.
