One of the oldest Christmas parades in Long Beach returned Saturday evening with close to 100 attendees watching on sidewalks across Daisy Lane. Parade participants rode in different styles of cars while spirit teams cheered and local resources were showcased with holiday flair.
This seasonal tradition, which dates back to 1953, continued with the smells of beloved local food vendors and the sight of flashy cars lighting up Daisy Lane as the audience danced, laughed and enjoyed the Christmas spirit.

Mayor Rex Richardson, Vice Mayor Roberto Uranga and Long Beach City Attorney Dawn McIntosh were among the several City officials who participated with their families in the parade. Alongside city officials and Long Beach resources, high schools Long Beach Polytechnic, Cabrillo and Jordan high schools attended with their spirit squads and cheerleaders.
It was Arturo Vergara’s first time attending the Daisy Lane Parade and the Cabrillo High School senior said it was the most wonderful thing he’s seen.
“The energy is amazing, being here [for] the first time, it’s wonderful to see the Christmas spirit,” Vergara said. “It’s just a wholesome [feeling], a warm feeling just to see all the families out here with their kids.”
