Businesses, shoppers give ‘For The Child’

Busy holiday shoppers running from place to place now have a quick and easy way to give back to their local community by donating an ornament to help decorate Christmas trees placed in 22 stores and businesses citywide. The donations benefit For The Child, a Long-Beach-based nonprofit organization focused on helping local children heal from the impact of sexual and physical abuse.
Businesses participating in For The Child’s Fill A Tree–Fill A Child’s Heart program are located in several high-traffic, popular areas and shopping centers frequented by holiday shoppers. Patrons are encouraged to donate $10 or more and receive an ornament which they can inscribe and place on the business’s donation tree as a symbol of the season of giving. Fill A Tree–Fill a Child’s Heart trees can be found at locations in Belmont Shore, downtown Long Beach, Pine Avenue and Belmont Heights.
For The Child is a 32-year-old Long Beach nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent child abuse, to provide child abuse treatment and to deliver family-focused mental health services in schools and in the community.
The Fill A Tree–Fill A Child’s Heart Campaign is sponsored by American Business Bank, Brockman Properties, and Garnica Interiors, among others.
