Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson will give updates on his priorities for the upcoming year and celebrate the progress made this past year at the State of the City Address on Jan. 13 in the Terrace Theater.
The annual address is free to attend, and it will be streamed live via YouTube and LBTV beginning at 5:30 p.m. that Tuesday evening. This year’s theme for the address is “A Future Built by All of Us.”
Richardson is expected to cover topics like housing affordability, homelessness prevention, neighborhood safety, infrastructure, City services, new jobs, major investments, expanded opportunities for small businesses and local youth and residents, and special announcements in workforce and emerging industries, according to a statement from the City.

The presentation will also look ahead to Long Beach’s role as a “global destination for arts, culture and major events,” with updates on City planning efforts leading up to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and developments in live entertainment, local sports, cultural programming and community spaces.
The 2026 State of the City Address will feature live music, guest performances, local youth and community voices and exclusive previews of upcoming attractions that highlight Long Beach as a vibrant, inclusive and opportunity-rich city, according to a statement from the City.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase before and after the address inside the Terrace Theater Lobby and outside on the plaza. Doors to the theater lobby will open at 4:30 p.m. Free parking for cars will be available in the Convention Center parking lots (400 Seaside Way).
Interpretation services in Spanish, Khmer, Tagalog and American Sign Language will be provided for those attending in person. Closed captioning will be provided at the event and on the livestreams.
The 2026 State of the City Address will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Terrace Theater (300 E. Ocean Blvd.). Those attending in person must RSVP online.
