Local nonprofit New Hope Grief Support Community is hosting its first annual Points of Light fundraiser–a silent auction, and hors d’oeuvres and aperitifs reception–from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Assistance League of Long Beach. Tickets are $100 each.
This event will honor Dr. Ginny Baxter of the Long Beach City College Foundation. Baxter, as executive director, leads the Foundation’s efforts to provide enrollment scholarships and books for thousand of Long Beach City College students. The Foundation has also given $100,000 to various school departments and $1 million to LBCC associated organizations. Baxter also serves as director for the National Conference for Community and Justice.
New Hope Grief Support Community is committed to providing grief support and education to people of all ages. Through grief groups, children’s camps and seminars, the organization has helped thousands through their grief. New Hope chose to honor Baxter for being a local hero, championing education and community all her life.
