Picture this Art Gallery is planning a new show for February and is looking for artists of all skill levels and specialties for its “LOVE/HATE” art exhibit. The exhibit will run throughout the month of February with an artist reception on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Love and hate are two of the most passionate emotions a person can feel,” said gallery owner Mattie Gomez in a press release. “They can both cause strong outcomes, sometimes even insanity. Most everyone has felt either the intense hurt or that profound happiness because of love.”
Gomez feels this February will be a great time to share any and every type of emotion people feel associated with love. Through paintings, sculpture, poetry/spoken word or song, Picture This wants anyone who is interested to share their feelings through their art.
Work can include both feelings or just love or hate, but the piece must include a heart shape in the artwork. Works of spoken word, poetry and song are required to be about either emotion.
Submissions for the “Love/ Hate” art exhibit must be received by Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. Accepted artists will be notified by Monday, Jan. 21. An entry fee of $20 is required and show participants have a limit of five pieces of work per artist. Picture This will receive 30 percent of all art sold.
To submit a piece of artwork, contact Mattie Gomez at picturethisgallery@gmail.com or mail required materials to Picture This Gallery & Custom Framing. Send an image/jpeg of your artwork, Word document of poetry, or sound snippet of song submissions along with a name and phone number, artist statement or bio and a description of the art. Details of the description include the art’s medium, size, price and art narrative.
