Local Junior Girl Scouts opt out of ‘fun’ project to instead help homeless

The Junior Girl Scouts of Troop 2833 are working on earning a Bronze Award, the highest honor they can earn. Originally choosing to create a project that would involve fun games for younger Girl Scouts, the troop changed their focus after hearing on the news that some local homeless shelters were closing because of current economic conditions. Troop 2833 then decided that helping the homeless community in Long Beach was a more urgent issue to address.
They collected goods, food and clothing for the homeless and, on March 10, put together care bags for them with the help of Gail Crandall, assistant to the Corps Officers for the Long Beach Salvation Army Citadel Corps.
The girls in Troop 2833 names are; in alphabetical order, Cassie Calciano, Jessica Caronna, April Kocisko, Kloe Martinez, Morgan de Metropolis, Alyson Mitchell, Paloma Mitri, Hailey Moore, Isabella Slobojan, Franki Vidovich and Lauren White.
