Though the holidays are over, Better Balance of Long Beach (BBLB) is still celebrating the turnout of their holiday gift store and Santa party. BBLB, along with Long Beach first lady Nancy Foster, the Long Beach Rescue Mission and First Congregational Church, were very pleased with their donations, which totaled nearly $30,000.
With a large response from Long Beach residents, the donations enabled BBLB to distribute 2,000 new books to children at their 3rd Annual Santa Party earlier last month. The children at the event also had the opportunity to choose a special gift of their own.
A week later, the holiday gift store brought a select few to the First Congregational Church. By invitation only, underprivileged families came and went on a holiday shopping spree, getting a total of 3,000 gifts for their children and an extra 750 gifts for children to give their parents.
BBLB acknowledged the donors by hanging a “thank you” banner during their Santa party. The two events gave local children more than 7,750 new toys and books.
