Long Beach Coast fans continued to bring the excitement at Blair Field Friday night — this time donning gritty ’90s-esque black-and-white jerseys.
The Coast officially debuted their alter-ego, the Regulators, as a nod to Long Beach culture and the G-Funk rap era. Long Beach Coast players will be wearing the Regulator uniforms every Friday night throughout the season.
To honor the inaugural Regulators Night, Long Beach rap legend and G-Funk pioneer Warren G performed his iconic song “Regulate” before he threw out the first pitch. Warren G also autographed fans’ memorabilia as he made his way off the field.
Before the game, Fans received their own laminated ticket and posters gifted by the players, including pitcher Brett Wozniak and shortstop Tyler Young, just before game action commenced.
The fans kept the high level of energy, similar to the inaugural home opener, as the Regulators played their best with a strong three-run lead in the third inning.
The bullpen remained strong throughout the game as starter Nick Bautista went six innings, striking out nine batters and giving up two runs in 89 pitches, while the three relievers only gave up one run in 2 ⅓ innings.
As the Coast kept their lead, the fans danced and stood for the home team until the final out of the game.
The Regulators will play the series closer against the Mobiles on June 7 before their next homestand against the Modesto Roadsters beginning June 14.
