St. Mary Medical Center and St. Anthony High School will host the third annual Saints Run 5K on Saturday, April 28 and are expecting more than 500 participants in this year’s event.
“Having St. Mary Medical Center join St. Anthony’s as the official race sponsor this year was a natural,” said Gina Maguire, St. Anthony High School president. “We share St. Mary’s commitment to caring, education and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. The 5K race is a great way to live out our shared mission of outreach and service.”
The race, which will start at the Belmont Pier at 8am, is open to the community. The course is a fast, flat, out-and-back race along the Long Beach shore line. For experienced runners, the course is ideal for attaining a new personal best and will be officially timed by Pacific Coast Race Timing. All entrants will receive a specially designed race T-shirt and optional blood screening tests sponsored by St. Mary Medical Center. The top three runners in all age groups will receive medals.
The race is organized through the SAHS Parents and Educator in Partnership (PEP) organization in conjunction with St. Mary Medical Center, who this year will launch an official employee team to participate and compete on race day.
