To honor military veterans and those currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, the City will host its annual Long Beach Veterans Day celebration at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.) Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
“Our veterans have served our country in profound ways, and their contributions to our communities continue long after their military service,” said ninth district councilmember Dr. Joni Ricks-Oddie in a public statement. “We have a responsibility to consistently recognize their service, connect them with resources, and ensure they know they will always remain a valued part of our community.”
The event also connects veterans and community members with resources and support through a community fair featuring more than 20 participating organizations.

“On Veterans Day, we uplift, honor and recognize our veterans for their bravery and sacrifice,” said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement. “Our veterans have given so much in service to our nation, and we owe them our deepest gratitude. This celebration is an opportunity for our community to come together, honor their courage and sacrifice, and show our veterans that their service will never be forgotten.”
The celebration will include live entertainment, food trucks, a kids’ zone, a boot camp-style obstacle course and a beer garden for adults. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and their dancing shoes to enjoy an afternoon full of live music.
Live entertainment will include DaShaun E. Quick (DJ Mr. Quick) and the following bands:
- The Satin Dollz, 1:15 p.m. — Bringing the music and choreography of the ‘40s big band swing era to the stage.
- Knyght Ryder, 2:30 p.m. — Performing hits from the ’80s and ’90s as Long Beach’s favorite tribute band.
