EDCO and the City of Signal Hill will sponsor a free paper-shredding, e-waste collection and mulch distribution event on Saturday, June 23, from 9am to noon at EDCO Recycling & Transfer, 2755 California Ave. The event will give Signal Hill residents an opportunity to safely dispose of personal documents and electronic waste.
Those who would like to discard old bank statements and other personal records but are concerned with identity theft may bring up to three bankers boxes (10″ x12″ x15″ ) per household and have them shredded on site.
EDCO will also accept unwanted electronics, including TVs, computer monitors, printers, fax machines, VCRs, DVD players and answering machines. No household hazardous waste material will be accepted.
Free mulch will also be available for Signal Hill residents, while supplies last. The mulch distribution will be a self-loading service, so those interested should provide their own cans or bags and a shovel. There will be a limit of three cans/bags per vehicle. Those who plan to haul their mulch in an open truck or trailer should have a tarp to cover the material.
