Today I received a disturbing phone call from my 70-year-old mother. She was at her grandparent’s grave site at Sunny Side Mortuary in Signal Hill, CA. Along with her grandparents being buried at Sunny Side, there are approximately 10 other family members buried at the same site.
Today my mother discovered that the solid marble headstones of her grandparents were missing and a small metal headstone was put in its place. The police were called out to the site, and the officer noticed many headstones from this old cemetery are missing. The mortuary responded by saying they didn’t have the equipment to remove the headstones but there was a backhoe about 20 feet away that could pick up a 300-pound headstone.
The police said they are going to turn this problem over to investigators. This is a heartbreaking problem for my family, and I do not wish this to happen to any other family. I believe it is important to inform your readers of this problem so other people can check on their loved ones.
