Bixby Knolls Car Wash and Detail Center to celebrate 35 years in business while owners celebrate 34 years of marriage

The Bixby Knolls Car Wash and Detail Center, 577 E. Wardlow Rd., one of the largest car wash and detail centers in the greater Los Angeles area, will host a free “35 years in business” celebration on Friday, Sept. 14 at 4pm. Sheldon and Shell Grossman, owners since 1977, will also be celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary at the event. Open to the public, the festivities will include music and entertainment, food from local vendors, clowns, give-aways, games, prizes and free photo-booth style pictures provided by Pics 4 My Party.
Over the past 35 years, the Grossmans have added the latest technology to their car-wash establishment and currently feature water-saving and green elements in their full-serve as well as in the coin-operated self-service portions of their business. Members of the Water Savers program, the Grossmans use cleaning agents and spray waxes that are environmentally friendly, and they have replaced all air dryers with high-efficiency systems to cut electricity usage.
Besides their business partnership, the Grossmans are also long-term partners in life as proven by their nearly 35 years of marriage. Longevity being their long suits, it appears that the two have been in the full-service car-wash business longer than any other owners of the same type of enterprise in the greater Los Angeles area.
