Effective July 1, 2012, the chapter’s slate of officers are: Mollie Bennet Beck, real-estate executive, elected to the position of chairman; Bill Clausen, mechanical engineer, elected to the position of 1st vice chair; Paul Conrad, president, Total Western, Inc., elected to the position of 2nd vice chair; Walter Neil, director, Public and Government Affairs, BP Carson Refinery, elected to the position of secretary; and Tim Sele, director, Site Administration & Services, Commercial Aviation Services, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, elected to the position of treasurer.
The board of directors is responsible for working with the chapter executive to develop local strategies to deliver Red Cross mission-related services that include disaster services, preparedness, health and safety, international services, service to the armed forces, and community outreach to volunteers and partners.
Board members represent Red Cross in the local community by increasing awareness and support for the Red Cross throughout the area and help to ensure the Chapter has financial resources to fulfill its mission by participating actively in fundraising. Members serve on mission-related regional committees including Financial Development, Volunteer Services, Service Delivery or Community Outreach.
The newest members elected to the board of directors are Charles King, Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.; and Cindy Allen, ETA Advertising.
The Board consists of 27 active members, six advisory member and two emeritus members. Active board members serve three-year terms; advisory members serve one two-year term.
The Greater Long Beach Chapter volunteers and board of directors work in tandem with the Rio Hondo Chapter to provide services to 21 cities, the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles and the island of Catalina.
