Chiefly speaking

It was a hot Saturday, September 22, for the Annual Historical Society Pancake Breakfast. I am grateful that the heat didn’t keep people away. It was a good turnout with local political officials, business people and Signal Hill residents showing up to sit down together for a meal.
I would like to thank the Signal Hill volunteers, some of them Historical Society members, others city employees. Among the volunteers, I think a special mention should be given to our Signal Hill police chief, Michael Langston.
He not only stepped up to the plate to do all the cooking, he also got his wife Brenda and his son Cody to join in. It was the Langston family in the kitchen giving that extra effort.
His participation and that of his family should get a special applause from us. He has a tough job and probably could have used that time to get some needed rest and relaxation. Instead, the Langstons came to Signal Hill and rolled up their sleeves.
