“GAIA
A group art show exploring “the other side” will open at Greenly Art Space in Signal Hill on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 6pm to 10pm. Kimberly Hocking of Greenly Art Space and artists Jamie Kivisto and Traci Durfee are presenting the unique collection of artwork in conjunction with Long Beach Arts Month, supported in part by the Arts Council for Long Beach.
Just in time for Halloween, Dia de los Muertos & All Souls Day, the exhibit brings together 21 artists presenting their work in a variety of mediums that explore their visions of what to expect after passing to the other side. The show includes works ranging from traditional Day of the Dead themes, ethereal landscapes, paintings, printmaking, photography and more. The presentation of this artwork invites individuals, both artists and viewers, to contemplate many different interpretations of the idea of “the afterlife.”

There will also be a live tableaux performance by performer and makeup artist Juan Sanchez Diaz, along with his “processional of souls,” and Morena Sanchez De Damian will be creating a traditional Day of the Dead altar piece.
Other artists featured are Jonathan Anderson, Natalie Anderson, Sandra Rausch Babayan, Ben Badgett, Atourina Barkho, Cory Bilicko, Emily Brozyna, Eve Chartrand, Traci Durfee, Jasmine Delgado, Ralph Faust, Vivian Gosnell, Kurt Hantzsch, David Hocking, Kimberly Hocking, Jamie Kivisto, Michael Mercurio, Breanne Patterson, Liezel Rubin, Jiela Rufeh and Laura Stegeman.
Music will be spun by DJ Jericho. The event is free and open to the public.

The artwork will be open for free public viewing Monday through Friday from 11am to 2pm, or by appointment by calling (562) 533-4020. The show will run through Nov. 16. Greenly Art Space is located at 2698 Junipero Ave.
