Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB) is proud to announce one of its newest physicians, Dr. Christopher (Chris) F. Amsden, a physical medicine rehabilitation specialist or physiatrist with a sub-specialty in pain medicine. Amsden holds privileges to perform pain management procedures at CHLB which includes epidural, facet and disc injection procedures for pain diagnosis and treatment, as well as radiofrequency procedures and sympathetic blocks. He looks forward to treating patients with stubborn or severe pain.
Amsden shares an office at CHLB with Dr. William Stanton, general surgeon, and also has offices in Modesto and San Pedro. Amsden is a licensed pilot and travels by airplane to his office locations, flying in and out of the Torrance Airport to be available to his Long Beach patients Mondays and Fridays.
He was born in Coos Bay, Ore., and attended Portland State University. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Pitzer College, attended medical school at the Oregon Health Services University, and completed his internship and residency at UC Irvine Medical Center. Amsden is affiliated with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, International Spinal Injection Society, International Association of the Study of Pain, American Pain Society and North American Spinal Society.
