Aquarium presents month-long course on environmental, sustainability issues

The Aquarium of the Pacific invites residents to get the inside scoop on pressing environmental issues while exploring solutions with leading experts at their California and Sustainability Course, which kicks off Wednesday, April 9.
From the water crisis to alternative approaches for dealing with global climate change, the Aquarium of the Pacific’s California and Sustainability Course delves into pressing environmental problems and probes for solutions. Each of the four Wednesday night sessions in April 2008 will be taught by experts who offer different perspectives on the problems that face California and its residents.
In addition to the water crisis and global climate change, the course will also examine California’s future in sustainable offshore aquaculture and Marine Protected Areas.
The goal of this course is to bring together business leaders, teachers, and the interested public to get the inside scoop on pressing environmental issues and explore solutions that benefit the environment, communities, and businesses. Registered teachers will be eligible to receive a CEU unit through CSULB.
Class dates are each Wednesday from April 9 to 30 and last from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Conference Facility, located at 320 Golden Shore, Suite 100 in Long Beach. The cost of enrollment is $45 each and $35 for Aquarium members. An additional $10 is required for the CEU credit. The class is designed for adults ages 18 years and up.
