Thoughts from the Publisher : LB Grand Prix

Neena StrichartWe receive a never-ending barrage of emails, letters and faxes. And, unfortunately, some arrive too late to be included in the latest edition of the Signal Tribune. I had planned on running another column this week, but when I saw that the following information wasn’t going to make the deadline cut, I decided to put off my other column until next week. Here is information we just received from Long Beach Transit regarding bus service to the Grand Prix this weekend. Vroom – vroom!

Don’t hassle with parking during race weekend. Continuing 45 years of easy-to-ride service for race fans, Long Beach Transit knows the most direct routes from the bus stops to the pit stops, leaving Long Beach residents and visitors with no better way of getting to, and returning from, the Toyota Grand Prix.
With a cost-saving 90-cent fare each way, no stress from searching for parking, and the ability to easily plan trips through the Long Beach Transit Web site or customer service hotline – (562) 591-2301, visitors can leave the driving to the pros. All of Long Beach Transit’s Passport buses in the downtown area are free to ride, making it easy to travel around downtown’s many attractions, and service runs as late as 1 a.m. Virtually all bus routes start and end in the heart of downtown Long Beach near the corner of First Street and Pine Avenue, where Long Beach Transit is building its new $3.9 million Transit and
Visitor Information Center that will provide customers with a one-stop information source for transit routes and Long Beach attractions.
Customers can also visit Long Beach Transit’s booth located in the Lifestyle Expo all weekend long for personal assistance in trip planning, whether for the Toyota Grand Prix, work, or school. For directions on how to get to the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach by bus, call the Long Beach Transit trip planner at (562) 591-2301, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The public can also visit Long Beach Transit’s Web site at www.lbtransit.com and click on “Plan Your Trip” to obtain step-by-step instructions on how to take Long Beach Transit’s economical and easy-to-use transit services.
