The Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) honored several of its employees during an annual awards ceremony on Dec. 6. The following individuals were recognized for their specific contributions to the Department’s value and mission statements: Police Volunteer of the Year, Ron Griggs; Professional Employee of the Year, Dispatcher/Jailer Carly Fisher; Police Officer of the Year, Sergeant Ricardo Oliveros; and Award of Excellence, School Resource Officer Brian Johnson.
In addition, Chief Michael Langston recognized Officer Art Smith with the Lifetime Achievement Award. As a reserve police officer for more than 40 years, Smith donates hundreds of hours annually, according to the SHPD.
