Two people were injured during a domestic dispute at a residence in the 3300 block of Myrtle Avenue in Signal Hill Wednesday morning, according to police.
Shortly after 9am on Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) received a 911 call from a man who said his male neighbor, who was standing outside, was bleeding from his neck and holding a gun.
SHPD and Long Beach Police Department officers arrived on the scene a few minutes later, according to the SHPD. Officers contacted the injured man, whom the SHPD described as “non-confrontational,” and he appeared to have a neck wound caused by a sharp-edged object. A female was later found inside the home with a single gunshot wound to her foot.
Both the male and female were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Police recovered a firearm and a knife.
“We know through our investigation, the female, Chardonnai Smith, age 26, of Victorville, was the dominant aggressor, and she was subsequently arrested for attempted murder,” said Senior SHPD Officer Kelli Brown in an emailed statement later that day. “The male victim remains at the hospital and is in stable condition.”
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the SHPD.
