The Expo Arts Center will feature the Long Beach Farm & Food Community Blue Ribbon Awards. Educational opportunities in the Expo include a herbalism demonstration by Green Wisdom, aquaponics demonstrations and food displays from Spring Street Farm and Beach Greens.
The Factory will hold a “world’s spiciest burger” invitational. Long Beach Farm Aid: MOVE will play the songs of Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the BKBIA Office.
Georgie’s Place will be offering fried Oreos, Snickers, and Twinkies. Goats and chickens will be in the parking lot of It’s A Grind and cold-blooded reptiles will be at World of Serpents.
Elise’s Tea Room will host ARTiculate, a monthly art talk featuring a local Long Beach artist. This month’s special guest speaker is Margie Darrow.
Long Beach local musical guests including The Circuits, Rainman, The Moderates, Matteran Ghost, and Windy Ridge will also provide entertainment.
From edible flowers to habanero honey: the chefs at Atun Sushi, The Factory, La Taverna Cucina, Café Bixby and Baba Ghanouj will be highlighting Long Beach grown fruits and vegetables in special dishes for the evening.
Pixie Toys will also offer face-painting and there will be carnival games throughout the art walk.
In addition, one of Long Beach’s “favorite bands” will be have a “secret show” at Aura Thai and Bella Pizza. Pixie Toys will be offering face-painting as well.
“First Books at First Fridays” begins at 5:30 pm at the Dana Branch Library. This month’s guest reader is Council member James Johnson.
Eighth District Councilmember Al Austin’s “Council on Your Corner” will be set up on the corner of Burlinghall and Atlantic to meet and greet attendees.
When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins. Nino’s Italian Restaurant, The Factory, Willmore, and EJ Malloy’s go late into the night with food, drinks, and music.
