LBCC has high fashion circus style

Fashion students from Long Beach City College (LBCC) will host the school’s 31st annual fashion awards show, Circassian Couture, tonight at 7:30, in the auditorium (building J) of the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC), located at 4901 East Carson Street in Long Beach.
“The design students have come up with some incredibly innovative designs inspired by dark and mysterious circus characters such as Siamese twins, lion tamers and bearded ladies,” said Pamela Knights, LBCC Fashion Program director.
The show will feature eye-popping garments inspired by turn-of-the-century freak shows, bone chilling side-show swimwear and tightrope-walking day dresses followed by a segment of fire-breathing sportswear.
“It will truly be a night at the circus with fashion and flare,” Knights said.
Industry professionals will judge entries and winners will receive the Golden French Curve Design Awards and industry donated scholarships.
General admission tickets are $15 at the door, $12 pre-sale through the ASB Bank, located in the LAC bookstore, or $8 for high school students with school identification. All proceeds will benefit the LBCC fashion program.
