Carl Kemp, candidate in the run-off election for the 5th District Long Beach City Council seat, has announced receiving the endorsements of former Mayor Ernie Kell; former 5th District Councilmember Jackie Kell and former Long Beach Mayor Beverly O’Neill.

A group known as Signal Hill Residents for Responsible Government/No on Measure U has launched a campaign against the measure, which will be on the June 3 primary-election ballot. If approved, Measure U would amend the charter of Signal Hill to require a two-thirds majority vote in a citywide election for the approval of property taxes, property assessments, bonded indebtedness, sales taxes and certain city fees.
