The Los Cerritos Neighborhood Association (LCNA) has openings for two board members and is inviting residents of their neighborhood to submit letters of interest.
According to LCNA, it is managed by a seven-member volunteer board and was formed about three years ago when a group of neighbors worked together to create it and seven people volunteered to step in as temporary board members. They were to be replaced with neighborhood-elected members over time— three positions the first year and then two positions each of the next two years, in a three-year rotation.
Those interested may submit their letters to: the LCNA Nominating Committee at 3828 Pine Ave. or via email to elections@LosCerritosNA.org. The letter should state length of residency in Los Cerritos, street address, telephone number and interest in being on the Board. If more than two qualified LCNA members express interest, an online election will be held in early November.
In general, a board member attends meetings, represents the neighborhood to the City of Long Beach, helps track local issues and interests, makes decisions that relate to the neighborhood and assists with and helps organize neighborhood events. The board is assisted by a social committee, and each board member is expected to donate five to 10 hours per month. Nominees are also required to be dues-paying members.
