Ten retail businesses were cited for selling tobacco products to minors during a recent decoy operation.
On Dec. 13, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) juvenile investigations detectives, along with the Department of Health and Human Services, participated in a tobacco decoy operation during which minors entered businesses and requested to buy tobacco products. If the establishment sold to the minor, the clerk was issued a misdemeanor citation.
Thank-you letters were issued to those who refrained from selling tobacco products to minors, according to the LBPD.
During the operation, 19 establishments were checked, and 10 of them sold tobacco products to minors, according to the LBPD.
