A local man is dead after being shot, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, at approximately 12:45pm, officers responded to the 1100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) regarding a drive-by shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered that a male adult had been struck in the torso by gunfire. He was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics and pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
The preliminary investigation determined that the victim had been approached by two black males in a dark-colored vehicle, when one of the occupants opened fire on the victim. The vehicle then fled westbound on PCH, according to police.
The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Robert Lee Hollie of Long Beach.
A motive for the shooting is unknown, however, the incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related, according to police.
