In its Dec. 13 DUI-driver’s license checkpoint at Willow Street and Lemon Avenue from 8:30pm to 1am, the Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) Traffic Unit screened 239 vehicles, according to the department.
One DUI suspect was arrested, one drug-impaired suspect was arrested and 13 drivers were either cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked, police said.
According to Det. Sgt. Russ Hefte, the SHPD will conduct another checkpoint on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Drunk drivers can be reported by calling 9-1-1.
