According to the City of Long Beach, the following are scheduled closures for city services and offices:
• Long Beach City Hall will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1.
• Refuse and recycling will not be collected on Jan. 1. Collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of each week, ending on Saturday.
• Street sweeping will not occur on Jan. 1. Street sweeping will occur on its regular schedule before and after the holidays with no delays or make-ups, including on Dec. 31.
• Parking meters and time zones that state “Except on holidays” will not be enforced on Jan. 1. The days and hours of enforcement are posted inside meters. All meters and time zones will be enforced on Dec. 31.
• All Long Beach public libraries will close at 5pm on Dec. 31 and will be closed on Jan. 1. All libraries will reopen to the public at 10am on Jan. 2.
On Thursday, Jan. 1, the following will be closed:
• Animal Care Services and spcaLA (Lost pets can be redeemed by appointment only by calling 562-570-PETS)
• Career Transition Center
• Center for Working Families
• City Hall
• Citizen Police Complaint Commission
• Code Enforcement services
• Fire headquarters, support services, fire prevention & operations, including Marine Safety Administration
• Gas Services (Emergencies: 570-2140)
•â€‚Health Department and Health facilities
• Libraries
• Marina offices
• Park offices, City pools, Senior Center (4th and Orange)
• El Dorado Nature Center
• Neighborhood Resource Center
• Police Administration
•â€‚Street Sweeping
• Water Department (Emergencies: 570-2390)
Fire stations, lifeguard stations and the main police station front desk will be open Jan. 1 along with El Dorado Regional Park. The City’s annual holiday “Treecycling” tree-recycling program gives residents a chance to dispose of trees free of charge while keeping the trees out of the trash after the holidays. From Dec. 26 through Jan. 9, residents can drop off trees at several locations throughout the city. Residents with City refuse service can leave their trees out where trash is normally collected by 7am on Saturday, Jan. 10. All trees must have decorations and stands removed, and trees over 12 feet tall should be cut in half.
