Food rescue organization accepting donations of unused gift cards

The food rescue nonprofit Food Finders is conducting a gift-card drive through the end of January through which individuals can donate any type of gift cards they don’t plan to redeem. Food Finders can use the cards to purchase needed items for the agencies that it serves, show appreciation to its volunteers, use them as opportunity-drawing prizes at fundraising events and fundraising social-media campaigns.
“Depending on the source, our research tells us that the retail and restaurant industry average for unredeemed gift cards is 10 to 20 percent,” said Patti Larson, Food Finders executive director. “Food Finders has found a way to put those unredeemed gift cards to good use by helping the agencies we service and rewarding the dedicated volunteers that support our efforts.”
Gift cards in any amount can be dropped off or mailed to: Food Finders, Attn: Patti Larson, 2301 E. 28th Street, Suite 303, Signal Hill, CA 90755.
For more information, call Larson at (562) 283-1400, ext. 104.
