Posting a 65-percent increase in annual giving over the last two years, California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) officials have announced another strong gain in their fundraising efforts over the previous year as the campus reported raising nearly $34 million during the 2007-08 academic year.
The year-end total as of June 30 was $33,958,067, which represents a $6.6 million gain over the previous year’s yield of $27,344,890. Furthermore, the 2007-08 fundraising totals indicate the most successful year in CSULB’s 59-year history.
This year’s increase coupled with last year’s $7.14-million gain over the 2005-06 total ($20,197,217) gives the university a gain of $13.7 million in annual giving over the last two years.
“Cal State Long Beach has built a reputation as both an excellent teaching and research university that produces graduates who are immediately ready to contribute to industry and society as a whole,” said CSULB President F. King Alexander. “At the same time, our fundraising efforts this past year indicate the great value of our thousands of successful alumni and university friends and their willingness to support our very public mission of preparing students from all income levels to become important societal contributors. These generous individuals, foundations and other giving entities believe that CSULB adds tremendous value to the lives of our students and want to see the continued success of this great institution.”
