Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB) Foundation Executive Director Glenn Maddalon has announced the award of a $150,000 grant from the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation for its CT scanner project. The CT scanner performs scans in a matter of minutes, providing physicians with a highly defined 3-D picture of both form and function inside a patient’s body, enabling them to make the best choice of treatment for their patient.
“The 64-slice CT scanner will give the physicians of CHLB the opportunity to provide our patients with state of the art medical care and will expand the scope of services that we are able to offer,” said Dennis Parmer, MD and chief of staff. “We thank the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation for their generous and thoughtful investment.”
The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation was established in 1961 as a modest gift-giving organization by the late Ralph M. Parsons, founder of the worldwide engineering and construction firm which bears his name. Subsequent to Parsons’ death in 1974, the Foundation received the residue of his estate. Since that time, the Foundation has been governed by an independent board of directors and administrative staff and is no longer affiliated with the Parsons Corporation.
