Restaurant Week event to benefit Food Finders

As part of Eat LBC Long Beach Restaurant Week, local eateries are offering a Chef’s Tasting Menu as a benefit for Food Finders food rescue organization March 22—28.
The Chef’s Tasting Menu, offered at The Sky Room, Michael’s On Naples, Queensview Steakhouse, and L’Opera Ristorante, to name a few, features three courses for $50 plus optional wine pairings for a nominal charge.
“We’re very excited to be part of Eat LBC, Long Beach Restaurant Week,” said Nicole Lira, general manager of L’Opera. “For us, the Chef’s Tasting Menu is a perfect fit as it allows us to showcase our chef and his talents to potential guests while taking part in a citywide culinary event that we feel will help boost Long Beach and its dining scene beyond the city limits.”
In addition to the Chef’s Tasting Menu, Long Beach Restaurant Week will feature three-course menus— appetizer, entrée and dessert— at dozens of restaurants citywide for $20, $30 or $40, depending on the restaurant. Some establishments will also feature a “shared” menu for two that includes an appetizer and dessert that can be split with each person enjoying their own entrée.
“This year we’ve added more pricepoint options that appeal to both the restaurateurs and their guests,” said Elizabeth Borsting, co-founder of Eat LBC Long Beach Restaurant Week. “There are casual, upscale and fine-dining restaurants participating, which really speaks to the city’s diverse culinary scene.”
To date there are nearly 40 restaurants participating in the second annual Eat LBC with more signing up each day, according to Borsting. A kick-off party, hosted in part by hotel sponsor Hyatt The Pike Long Beach, will take place on Sunday, March 15 at the hotel. A limited number of tickets will be sold to the public at $35 per person and will include food from select participating Eat LBC restaurants. Celebrity Cruises will host a wine bar and tasting, while Stella Artois will pour beer. Partial proceeds will benefit Food Finders, a community-based food rescue organization that serves as a conduit for food, education and awareness between donors, volunteers, agencies and people in need.
The registration fee is $475 for returning restaurants and $525 for first-time restaurants with a discount for multiple-unit restaurants who share the same concept.
