CSULB theatre department to host interactive fundraiser

The Theatre Arts Department at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) will host a fundraiser entitled Art à la Carte: A Taste of All Things Theatre on Sunday, May 3 from 5pm to 8pm in the Theatre Arts building on the CSULB campus. In addition to refreshments, there will be a “choose your own adventure” format from a menu of performances, lectures and workshops. The evening will conclude with an exclusive sneak preview of a new autobiographical show starring Alexandra Billings— cast member of the Golden Globe-winning television series Transparent and a theatre arts faculty member.
Art à la Carte will feature a tour of the annual Design Expo, showcasing the work of the CSULB graduate and undergraduate costume, scenic and lighting-design students. That show will open to the public on Tuesday, May 5.
Community honorees Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia and Mort and Susan Stuhlbarg will be recognized for their support of the arts in the Long Beach Community. A silent auction— including contributions from award-winning performers, internationally renowned fibre artist Doshi and nationally acclaimed novelists— will take place to help raise support for the CSULB Theatre Arts Department.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to share our varied and exciting work with our community,” said Anne D’Zmura, CSULB Theatre Arts Department chair. “This event will highlight the many talents, accomplishments and influences our students, alums, faculty and staff are actively developing to share with our local, national and international communities.”
