The Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) Traffic Unit will conduct DUI/driver license checkpoints on Saturday, March 21 and Tuesday, March 31 at undisclosed locations within the city limits between the hours of 8pm and 2:30am, and the Long Beach Police Department will conduct a checkpoint on Saturday, March 21 in the West Division between the hours of 7pm Saturday until 3am Sunday.
Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment while checking drivers for proper licensing. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.
Funding for the checkpoints is provided by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
