The Signal Hill Police Department is offering an exciting opportunity to learn about a career in law enforcement. On Tuesday, June 5, at 5 p.m., Police Chief Tom Sonoff, Captains Ron Mark and Mary Risinger, along with several police officers will give a short presentation for people interested in becoming a Signal Hill police officer.
Information will be provided about the Police Academy, the Field Training Program and what future police officers can look forward to in their law enforcement careers with SHPD.
This is a chance to ask questions about the academy, field training and career opportunities of police officers who have been through the academy, and have spent a few or several years on the streets of Signal Hill protecting the community.
Interested candidates are also invited to bring their spouses or other family members who would like to learn first hand what they should anticipate once their family member becomes an officer.
Sonoff is looking forward to meeting men and women who are considering a career in law enforcement.
“We are looking for motivated, hard-working individuals who would like a career serving the community as a Signal Hill police officer,” he said. “The Police Department is fortunate to currently have a group of dedicated and highly trained police officers, and we would like to invite anyone who is interested in being part of our proud tradition to stop by on June 5.”
Following the presentation, at 6 p.m., interested individuals can participate in the police recruit written exam, the first phase of the recruitment process. The written exam will last approximately three hours.
