Exhibit to explore human impact on oceans

For its second annual fundraiser, Greenly Art Space in Signal Hill will host the opening reception of Blue, an exhibit that explores oceans and the inspiration they engender, on Saturday, April 25. The focus of the show is to raise awareness and encourage a shift in consciousness in understanding the impact people have had on oceans, according to Greenly.
The gallery is partnering with local nonprofits and Algalita Marine Research Foundation for the cause. Circle Pet will be displaying a live fish tank reef.
The show will include more than 70 artists whose works explore issues such as oil pollution, overfishing and global warming’s effect on the health of oceans.
“Blue is set to debut the week of Earth Day,” said artist and co-curator Emily Brozyna. “We hope this art exhibit helps to raise awareness of the connection between the death of our oceans and its impact on our future.”

Kimberly Hocking, art director, curator, and founder of Greenly Art Space, said she is encouraged by the support of the local community.
“It’s wonderful to see our hard work making a difference,” Hocking said. “Finally, we’re finding a place in the community. We must preserve it. We love art. We all want to enjoy it. But you can’t have the Van Gogh without the Theo.”
Greenly Art Space is located at 2698 Junipero Ave. #113, in Signal Hill. The opening will take place from 6pm to 10pm. A $10 admission will be used to raises funds to support the nonprofit gallery.
